Daniel Beaty is the 2004 Nuyorican Poet’s Café Grand Slam Champion which means he ranked #1 out approximately 500 poets competing in 90 slams at the Nuyorican from September to May of this year. He is also the 2004 National Champion of Fox Networks National Redemption Slam ranking #1 in poets throughout the country.

Reviewed as “a brilliant, spellbinding performance” by the Amsterdam News,” and “a dazzling 90 minutes full of memorable moments…intense…hilarious” by the New York Times, the show was produced by the Executive Producer of HBO Def Poetry--Deborah Pointer. Daniel also leads performance poetry workshops for students of all ages.
